DigiPlus and BingoPlus Foundation Provide ₱37M Aid to Typhoon Kristine Victims

First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos, alongside DigiPlus Interactive Chairman Eusebio Tanco and DSWD Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez, personally handover financial aid to families affected by Typhoon Kristine in Batangas. This forms part of the Php37 Million pledged by DigiPlus Interactive in support, especially for the recovery of bereaved families of 148 casualties nationwide.

In response to the devastating aftermath of Typhoon Kristine, BingoPlus Foundation, the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive, has stepped up with a generous distribution of ₱37 million in financial aid to support the affected families. This extensive relief effort is one of the largest to date by the Foundation, aimed at helping those who have faced the brunt of the calamity.

A Lifeline to Bereaved Families

DigiPlus extends its largest relief effort to date, underscoring its dedication to resilience and meaningful impact. Through BingoPlus Foundation, the company’s commitment stands as a beacon of resilience and compassion in times of crisis.

Typhoon Kristine left a tragic mark with 148 confirmed casualties nationwide. As a gesture of compassion and support, at least ₱250,000 has been committed to each bereaved family. The relief initiative commenced with a turnover ceremony at Talisay New Municipal Grounds in Batangas, reaching out to 39 bereaved families initially, with plans to extend this aid across the country. The effort is being coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure comprehensive support.

The turnover event witnessed the presence of prominent figures including First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, DSWD Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez, DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco, Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, Talisay Mayor Nestor Natanauan, Bacolod Mayor Albie, BingoPlus Foundation COO Celeste Jovenir, local leaders, and community members. This gathering underscored the Foundation’s mission to provide meaningful support to Filipinos during their most challenging times.

Destruction and Recovery

Typhoon Kristine, one of the most devastating storms of the year, caused widespread destruction in South Luzon, resulting in severe flooding and landslides that led to significant loss of life and property damage. Talisay, a town severely impacted by landslides in Batangas, has been a focal point of the Foundation’s relief efforts, with the entire province declared in a state of calamity.

“The BingoPlus Foundation exists to provide more than financial aid; it is about creating hope, resilience, and real change,” remarked DigiPlus Interactive Chairman Eusebio Tanco. “The work of the BingoPlus Foundation reflects our belief in giving back without holding back, reaching out to lift those in need, and multiplying the good in every way possible.”

Building on Previous Support Initiatives

This substantial financial assistance builds on BingoPlus Foundation’s prior initiatives to support Typhoon Kristine victims. In collaboration with DSWD’s National Resource Operations Center (NROC), the Foundation has provided cavans of rice benefiting at least 750 families. They have also mobilized volunteers to help repack and distribute critical supplies to affected provinces.

Additionally, the Foundation teamed up with ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya to extend support to 1,000 families impacted by Typhoon Kristine in Isabela, Aurora, Pangasinan, and Quezon. These swift actions underscore the Foundation’s dedication to its resilience pillar, showcasing its commitment to making a tangible difference when communities need it most.

Commitment to Community Resilience

“The BingoPlus Foundation stands by our communities not only with aid but with resilience, unity, and hope,” emphasized Tanco. “In moments like these, our commitment to making a difference is stronger than ever.”

Since its inception, the Foundation has allocated over ₱100 million across various projects nationwide, addressing urgent community needs through healthcare, livelihood programs, and educational grants. Through partnerships with local and national organizations, the Foundation has established PLUS Centers in Negros, Cebu, and General Santos. These centers serve as resource hubs designed to empower communities by offering essential resources such as health programs, livelihood support, and skills training. Each center stands as a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable community development.

The comprehensive support from DigiPlus and BingoPlus Foundation exemplifies their dedication to helping communities rebuild and recover from disasters. This significant contribution not only provides immediate relief but also fosters long-term resilience and empowerment for the affected families.
