Movie Review: The Predator
Movie Review: The Predator
The latest installment of the Predator franchise which started when the first predator hit the jungles of South America and hunted an elite special forces team. This time the predator is also being hunted by one of its own. But we will not be discussing spoilers in this review
The movie brings back our favorite alien hunter to its anti-hero/hunter roots. The movie tried to recapture the dark tone of the initial predator movies. Unfortunate from what I saw the movie failed to live up to the promise, it just gave us fans what we wanted to see. The movie was also sprinkled with a lot of fan service lines.
The movie is just fell flat in terms of depth and story development. Even the introduction of a new protagonist. Do not get me wrong I am a big fan of action movie where you can leave your brain at the door and enjoy the action. But this movie felt flat. It tried to introduce pseudoscience into the formula. To be honest as a fan of the old predator lore the new direction that the franchise is going is not to my liking.
The entire movie feels like a like a set-up, it feels that the movie studio wants to develop a series of movies leveraging on the popularity of the predator. The movie now has a score of 51% on rotten tomatoes which just shows that the film failed to leverage on the strength of the predator brand.
