Aurora and ONIC PH Close MPL PH Week 3 Strong

Aurora’s Dominance Shines Bright

MAKATI CITY – MPL PH Season 15 Week 3 concluded with victories for M6 World Championship and Snapdragon Pro Series representatives Aurora Gaming and ONIC Philippines. Both teams made strong statements, showing resilience and expertise at the Green Sun Hotel.

Aurora Gaming opened Sunday with a crucial win over TNC Pro Team, who suffered their second consecutive loss. Former Nexplay Esports teammates Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse and Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera faced off for the first time in two seasons, adding a layer of excitement to this matchup.

Renejay played a pivotal role as Tigreal, dictating the pace of Game 1 with nine assists. Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto stood out with his lethal Suyou, tallying an impressive eight kills and two assists. On the flip side, Yawi’s Jawhead struggled against Aurora’s aggressive strategy, ending the game with a tough 0/6/4 stat line.

TNC responded strongly in Game 2, spearheaded by Justine “Zaida” Palma’s Suyou. Zaida’s calculated plays secured him 10 kills and six assists, leading a remarkable comeback. Despite Jan Dominic “Domeng” del Mundo’s Granger posting an impressive 11/1/6 stat line, Aurora’s overconfidence in aggressive plays left the door open for TNC to force a decisive Game 3.

Aurora didn’t waver in the third game. With Renejay continuing to shine, securing a kill and five assists, they controlled the match from start to finish. Yawi’s Chou found himself relentlessly targeted by Aurora’s sharp coordination, resulting in five deaths. The match ended in a low-scoring 7-2 victory for Aurora, underscoring their measured approach to closing the series.

Aurora Gaming improved their record and now looks ahead to a high-stakes clash with Team Liquid PH in Week 4. Meanwhile, TNC Pro Team finished the week at 3-2, raising questions about their consistency moving forward.

ONIC PH Finds Their Rhythm

ONIC Philippines returned to winning form after enduring a frustrating three-series losing streak. They captured a much-needed victory over AP.Bren, who continue to struggle for their first win this season.

ONIC kicked things off with a convincing 14-6 victory in Game 1. Frince Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez’s Selena delivered a masterclass, earning MVP honors with four kills and four assists. King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez dominated objectives, securing three Lords and two Turtles in a commanding 13-minute display.

Game 2 proved to be more competitive. AP.Bren’s Jan Carl “Shizou” Valdez led his team with a solid showing on Moskov, earning two kills and six assists. Despite their efforts, ONIC’s veteran experience proved decisive. A crucial Lord fight in the 17th minute sealed the series for ONIC, allowing them to clinch their first win since Week 1.

The “Sigma King” played a pivotal role in this victory. Piloting Joy, he earned the Game 2 MVP title with five kills and three assists, showcasing clutch plays that kept ONIC in the driver’s seat. James “JamesPangks” Mendoza provided solid support, adding one kill and eight assists with Suyou.

This much-needed win boosts ONIC PH’s morale as they aim to regain their groove heading into Week 4. On the other hand, AP.Bren remains winless, facing mounting pressure to deliver results with their revamped lineup.

Looking Forward

As MPL Philippines Season 15 heads into Week 4, both Aurora Gaming and ONIC PH will look to build on their victories. Aurora’s clash with Team Liquid PH is shaping up to be a marquee matchup, while ONIC PH will aim to prove their consistency against stiffer competition. For TNC and AP.Bren, Week 4 offers a chance to recalibrate and reignite their campaigns.
