Manila, Philippines – MINI Philippines has unveiled the all-new MINI Cooper 5-Door at a launch party held at the MINI Bonifacio Global City Showroom on February 5. This exciting new addition combines the brand’s characteristic driving fun with extended space and distinctive functionality, making it a standout in its segment. With its unique design—a blend of tradition and modern, purist styling—and innovative assistance systems, the MINI Cooper 5-Door is set to impress.
The Ultimate Urban All-Rounder
Willy Tee Ten, President of the Autohub Group of Companies, introduced the new model with enthusiasm: “Three’s a crowd, but five is definitely a party! Exterior Design: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation
The all-new MINI Cooper 5-Door features short overhangs, a small bonnet, a long wheelbase, and large wheels—proportions that reflect its urban character. Measuring 4,036 mm in length, 1,744 mm in width, and 1,464 mm in height, its body dimensions are almost identical to its predecessor, embodying the core MINI principle of maximizing space on a small footprint.
This model offers ample space for five passengers, with a wheelbase 72 mm longer and a body 172 mm longer than the MINI Cooper 3-Door. This translates to enhanced comfort and space for occupants.
The compact silhouette makes the MINI Cooper 5-Door easy to maneuver in tight spaces, while providing plenty of room for all passengers. Its distinctive design includes a clearly defined body, wraparound window area, and stepped roof—elements that make it instantly recognizable. The minimalist front end with its focused expression features the iconic MINI round headlights and an octagonal front grille, forming the distinctive MINI face. Standard LED headlights with adjustable daytime running light elements further enhance its striking appearance. The light signatures are available in three versions, emphasizing the vehicle’s character.
Striking Aesthetics and Practical Features
The rear of the all-new MINI Cooper 5-Door continues the new MINI aesthetic with clear surfaces and flush-fitting tail lights. The vertically aligned LED clusters are reminiscent of classic MINI lights and can be switched to different settings. The flush-mounted design of the rear lights adds a modern and purist look, complemented by a striking black handle strip with distinctive model lettering. This horizontal alignment emphasizes the car’s broad stance.
The Favoured Trim, standard on the MINI Cooper 5-Door, features a front radiator grille frame and select design elements finished in Vibrant Silver, adding a refined touch. The larger tire diameter compared to the outgoing model highlights the wide stance. The car comes with 18-inch wheels in two-tone slide spoke as standard.
Interior: Minimalist, Immersive, and Functional
The interior of the all-new MINI Cooper 5-Door is inspired by the purist design of the classic Mini. Legendary inventor Alec Issigonis designed the first model’s interior with a round instrument in the center and a characteristic toggle switch strip below—elements that continue to structure the cockpit in the new model.
A standard head-up display behind the steering wheel ensures that all relevant content appears in the driver’s field of vision, eliminating the need for an additional instrument panel and opening the view to the front.
Innovative materials enhance the interior’s feel-good atmosphere. A specially developed knitting process creates a versatile, easy-care textile structure in a two-color design made of recycled polyester. These textile surfaces extend across the curved dashboard and into the door panels. The air vents feature a flat design and are horizontally arranged for even airflow in the cockpit. The direction of the vents can be easily adjusted.
Spacious and Comfortable
The generous space in the front seats and the clean lines give the cockpit a modern and airy look. John Cooper Works sports seats come standard, with side panels upholstered in high-quality fabric down to the adjustment buttons. The rear provides comfortable space for three passengers, with 60:40 folding rear seats increasing the luggage compartment capacity from 275 liters to up to 925 liters.
Revolutionizing the User Experience with High-Resolution OLED Display
The central icon with versatile functions is the visual focal point of the interior. The central OLED display in the redesigned cockpit has been moved closer to the driver for easier reach. Its high resolution sets a new standard, and thanks to the MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be intuitively controlled by touch or voice. The slim touch display, with a high-quality glass edge, has grown to 240 mm in diameter, resembling smartphone operating standards.
The graphical presentation of content focuses on essentials, with vehicle-related information displayed at the top and direct access to navigation, media, phone, and climate control menus at the bottom. A home button returns the display to its default settings.
MINI Experience Modes: Personalization and Immersion
The seven MINI Experience Modes can be selected according to mood and personal preference, characterizing the interior atmosphere. Using the MINI Projector on the rear of the OLED display, these modes transform the dashboard into matching worlds of color and pattern. The interplay of projection, ambient lighting, and the MINI Interaction Unit creates a unique, immersive experience extending into the door trim.
In Personal Mode, for example, a personalized image can be selected as the display background via the MINI App. The dominant colors of the picture are then applied to the dashboard’s textile surfaces using a digital color picker. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also color-coded to match these projections. Each mode has its customized backgrounds, with Go-kart mode featuring the John Cooper Works signature charcoal grey and red.
Advanced Features and Sustainable Materials
The rocker switch strip, with its toggle switches, includes the parking brake, gear selector, start/stop button, Experience Mode, and volume control. The removal of the gear selector has freed up more space in the center console, which now features a large open storage compartment and cup holders. Smartphones can be charged in the wireless charging area at the front of the console.
The new color and material concept for the all-new MINI Cooper 5-Door is deliberately minimalist, using high-quality, environmentally friendly materials like knitted recycled polyester surfaces on the dashboard and door trim.
Exceptional Driving Dynamics
The track width and wheelbase are generous for this vehicle segment, providing the basis for hallmark MINI dynamic performance. The suspension and damping system are tuned for spirited handling, ensuring high everyday driving comfort, precise steering, and powerful brakes. Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles ensure balanced body handling during dynamic cornering, while selective tuning of steering and stability control systems provides an exceptional driving experience.
Meet “Hey MINI” – The Intelligent Personal Assistant
The all-new MINI Cooper 5-Door features the brand’s first fully-fledged voice assistant. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated with “Hey MINI” or the push-to-talk steering wheel button. Voice-controlled interaction takes place on the circular OLED display, allowing the driver to control navigation, telephone, entertainment, and numerous vehicle functions by voice.
