DHL Express Recognized for Leading Efforts in Electric Vehicle Adoption by eVAP
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – DHL Express, a global leader in international express services, has been awarded the E-mobility Award for EV Technology Adoption at the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit. This accolade was presented by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (eVAP) to acknowledge companies at the forefront of electric vehicle (EV) adoption in local logistics operations.
Pioneering EV Adoption in Logistics
DHL Express began deploying electric vehicles in 2021 and has been steadily expanding its electric fleet. Today, the company operates 47 electric vehicles (EVs) in the Philippines, which constitutes 24% of its total vehicle fleet. This initiative aligns with DHL Group’s ambitious target to electrify 60% of its last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030. The E-mobility award highlights DHL’s commitment to promoting environmental stewardship through the electrification of its pickup and delivery fleet.
Commitment to Sustainability
“We are immensely honored to be recognized for our sustainability efforts, particularly in reducing the environmental impact of our logistics operations. This award is a testament to our ongoing dedication as a responsible corporate citizen and implementing decarbonization measures,” stated Nigel Lockett, Country Manager of DHL Express Philippines. “At DHL Express, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable logistics practices, integrating advanced technologies like electric vehicles into our fleet to support our global decarbonization goals. This recognition not only validates our current initiatives but also inspires us to continue innovating and expanding our services in our mission to become the ‘Green Logistics of Choice.'”
GoGreen Plus Service
In line with its sustainability goals, DHL Express introduced the GoGreen Plus service in 2023. This service enables customers to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with their international air freight through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Made possible by partnerships with bp, Neste, and World Energy, SAF is produced from renewable energy sources, sustainable biomass, or waste materials. GoGreen Plus is a crucial component of DHL Group’s objective to achieve net zero GHG emissions by 2050. Given that the air freight network accounts for approximately 68% of the company’s carbon footprint, sustainable air transportation solutions are essential for more environmentally friendly logistics.
Education and Advocacy by eVAP
The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (eVAP) is dedicated to educating the public about the economic and environmental benefits of electric vehicles. By recognizing companies like DHL Express, eVAP promotes the broader adoption of EV technology in the logistics industry, encouraging more businesses to follow suit in pursuing sustainable practices.
DHL Express Recognized for Leading Efforts in Electric Vehicle Adoption by eVAP underscores the company’s leadership in integrating sustainable practices into its logistics operations. With a growing fleet of electric vehicles and innovative services like GoGreen Plus, DHL Express is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future in the logistics industry. This award not only celebrates DHL’s current achievements but also inspires continued innovation and commitment to environmental stewardship.
