Xiaomi Launches Redmi Note 7

Xiaomi president Lin Bin teased last year a smartphone with a 48-megapixel camera that will be launched to the world soon. Today that promise has been realized. With the high megapixel count, everybody was expecting that the smartphone might be a flagship. But breaking away from expectation the phone turned out to be a product under the entry-level Redmi brand called the Redmi Note 7.

The Redmi Note 7 is equipped with a camera that can take photos with its 48 million tiny 0.8-micron pixels in good lighting, or combine adjacent pixels for what’s claimed to be the equivalent of a 12-megapixel photo taken with larger 1.6-micron pixels. At half an inch across, the sensor is physically quite larger than what’s typically found in smartphones which will, in theory, give you better low light performance.
